The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris just kicked off with, like, the most amazing opening ceremony ever! Seriously, it was sooo magical and everyone is talking about it. Held at the super fancy Stade de France, the ceremony had all these cool performances that were, like, totally celebrating French culture, history, and, you know, world unity and stuff.
Like, A Night to Remember
So, it all started with this totally breathtaking aerial show by the Patrouille de France, which is, like, the French Air Force’s super talented aerobatic team. They painted the sky with the French flag colors and it was soooo pretty! Then there was this super mesmerizing dance performance that showed the journey of the Olympic flame from ancient Greece to modern-day Paris. Like, how cool is that?
Jean-Paul Goude, who’s, like, a super famous French director known for his crazy awesome productions, was the brains behind the ceremony. He mixed in all these elements of French art, fashion, and music, and even had appearances by some of France’s biggest celebs. There was a hologram of singer Edith Piaf and, like, fashion icon Jean-Paul Gaultier was there too!
And OMG, the Parade of Nations! It was, like, totally the highlight. Instead of the usual stadium march, the athletes paraded down the Seine River on these super chic boats! Athletes from 206 countries sailed into the heart of Paris, waving their flags and soaking up all the love. Team USA was led by flag bearers Brittney Griner and Eddy Alvarez, and the crowd went absolutely wild for them!
Reactions from, Like, All Over the World
So, everyone is totally raving about the opening ceremony. Social media is just buzzing with praise and stuff. People are saying it was, like, super creative and totally emotional.
“An unforgettable night in Paris! The opening ceremony was a beautiful blend of tradition and innovation. Kudos to everyone involved!” tweeted Olympic historian Bill Mallon. Like, everyone agrees it was just amazing.
French President Emmanuel Macron was there with his wife Brigitte, and he was, like, so proud. He said, “Tonight, we showcased the best of France to the world. This is just the beginning of what promises to be an exceptional Olympic Games.” Like, wow!

OMG, the Triathlon Got Postponed!
So, like, the triathlon was supposed to happen today, but it got postponed because of the totally crazy weather. There was, like, torrential rain and super strong winds in Paris, so the organizers had to reschedule it for later this week. They wanted to make sure the athletes were safe and stuff.
The IOC President Thomas Bach said, “While it is disappointing to delay such a significant event, the safety of our athletes must come first. We are confident that the triathlon will take place under better conditions, allowing competitors to perform at their best.” Like, he’s so right!
Some of the athletes had mixed reactions. British triathlete Alex Yee tweeted, “Gutted about the postponement, but safety comes first. Ready to give it my all when the time comes!” Like, he’s still so pumped!
Looking Ahead: So Much Excitement Coming Up!
There’s still soooo much to look forward to at the Olympics! The men’s and women’s basketball tournaments are heating up, and Team USA is, like, totally aiming to defend their titles. The gymnastics team finals are gonna be, like, super exciting with all the world’s best gymnasts going for gold.
