OMG, so at this CNN town hall, Kamala Harris totally went off and called Donald Trump a fascist. Like, no chill at all! She was all, “America, listen up! Trump is a total threat to democracy.” She even quoted John Kelly (yes, Trump’s ex-Chief of Staff), who basically said Trump’s, like, sooo dangerous. Harris was not holding back, y’all!
But wait, Trump’s team? Yeah, they’re flipping out, saying she’s being extra dramatic. Like, “Trump’s all about ‘America First,’ not whatever she’s talking about.” Mmmkay, sure.
Meanwhile, experts like David Axelrod are like, “Yeah, she’s really trying to frame this whole election as, like, a battle for democracy vs. autocracy, and using the ‘fascist’ thing is part of her whole vibe.” Another expert, Ruth Ben-Ghiat, who’s totally into studying authoritarianism (how chic!), said that Kamala’s comment actually fits because Trump really loves autocratic leaders. Hmm, interesting, right?
Now, about the polls—sooo close! Like, nail-bitingly close, especially in the swing states. In Pennsylvania? Kamala’s up by only 2 points, like barely ahead. And in Michigan? It’s, like, a toss-up! She’s totally catching up in Arizona though—up by, like, a smidge. But in Wisconsin and Florida, Trump’s right there too. It’s legit too close to call in all these places.
Political strategist Steve Kornacki told NBC News that this race is “one of the closest we’ve ever seen!” And he’s basically saying that Kamala’s whole “Trump is a fascist” vibe could totally energize her base. But will it be enough to sway all those undecided voters? Especially since Trump is obsessed with making it about the economy. He’s out there blaming the Biden administration for inflation and all that stuff.
Like, Kamala’s trying so hard to make this election about “saving democracy” while Trump’s out there, like, “inflation this, economy that.” So, honestly, it’s gonna come down to who voters think is, like, more in touch with their feels.
So yeah, in the final weeks, both campaigns are all-in on these battleground states. Kamala’s hitting places like Pennsylvania and Michigan hard, trying to get suburban moms, young people, and basically everyone to remember what’s at stake. Trump’s doubling down on his “fix the economy” thing, but Kamala’s not backing down on her whole “Trump = danger to democracy” message.
It’s all so intense, and honestly, this election is giving me so much anxiety. Like, can we just fast-forward to the results already?
XOXO,
