OMG, vice-presidential debate last night between J.D. Vance and Tim Walz was, like, sooo dramatic! Vance was all up in arms about inflation and Iran, totally blaming the Harris administration for high food prices and claiming they handed $100 billion to Iran—fact-checkers were like, “Umm, no, that’s not right.” Walz stayed super chill and fact-checked Vance, especially on how Trump handled brain injuries from that Iran missile attack. He threw out facts like, “We’ve had wage growth outpacing inflation.” Totally snatching receipts, right?
When they got into immigration, Vance tried to pin the fentanyl crisis on the Harris administration, saying the border was wide open, but experts, like Theresa Cardinal Brown, were like, “Actually, the fentanyl problem has been around since before Harris took office, and seizures are at record highs.” Walz clapped back, highlighting their more humane approach to the border, balancing security while also treating asylum seekers better. It was like, the ultimate showdown, but still, no one got a major slam dunk.
Experts, like David Axelrod, think the debate probably got the party bases fired up but didn’t really convince undecided voters. He was like, “This was all about energizing their side.” Snap polls were super split—some thought Vance came out on top with his fiery approach, while others loved Walz’s chill, fact-focused vibe. Lara Brown also commented, saying this debate was basically a reflection of the larger election, with Vance being the populist warrior and Walz bringing the facts.
Even though both had their moments, like, experts aren’t sure if it’ll really change the election game. Nathan Gonzales from Inside Elections thinks it’s just reinforcing what people already believe. And, OMG, the betting markets showed only a tiny bump in favor of Vance, so yeah, nothing game-changing happened.
So, like, bottom line: if you were hoping for a knockout punch, this debate didn’t have one. But it was still wild and totally set the tone for the final sprint to Election Day. Gonna be so much more drama ahead!
Until next time…
