Okay, so this is, like, literally the worst news ever. A totally tragic mid-air collision happened over the Potomac River last night, and it’s beyond heartbreaking. An American Airlines regional jet and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter just, like, CRASHED into each other, and, ugh, no one survived. It’s giving major disaster vibes.
So, here’s the deal: The plane, a Bombardier CRJ700 (I know, who even knows what that is?), was coming in from Wichita, Kansas, with 64 people on board. Meanwhile, the helicopter had three military crew members, and they were just doing their thing. But then—BAM—they collided right near Reagan National Airport.
Rescue teams have already pulled 27 bodies from the water so far, and it’s, like, the worst aviation disaster the U.S. has seen in forever. Well, okay, 24 years, but still.
And now, the FAA is all, “We need to investigate” because, um, how did this even happen? The weather was fine, like, clear skies, no storms, no weird turbulence. So, why weren’t they watching where they were going??
Even Donald Trump had something to say (obvi). He was like, “The helicopter was going straight at the airplane for an extended period of time. It is a CLEAR NIGHT, the lights on the plane were blazing, why didn’t the helicopter go up or down, or turn?” Like, I mean, he kinda has a point??
Authorities haven’t released the names of the victims yet, which makes sense because, like, their families need to be told first. But, honestly, this is so tragic, and everyone is totally freaking out about air safety now.
Like, how does this even happen in 2025?! We literally have Teslas driving themselves, but we can’t stop a plane and a helicopter from crashing? The FAA and NTSB need to, like, figure this out ASAP because, yeah, no one wants to be scared every time they get on a plane.
Sending major love to all the families affected. 💔
