Omg, so like, Israel just totally went back into attack mode on Gaza, and it’s a full-blown disaster. The ceasefire that started on January 19? Yeah, that’s officially over, and now everything is, like, blowing up again—literally. Since Tuesday, over 400 people in Gaza have died, and it’s just, like, nonstop chaos. The 2.2 million people living there are basically trapped in a nightmare, and there’s no end in sight.
So, Netanyahu got on the mic and was like, “Negotiations will now happen under fire,” which is just, like, the most dramatic and terrifying thing ever. And then he doubled down and said this is “just the beginning,” which, like, yikes. But why is this even happening? Well, basically, Israel says Hamas was refusing to release more hostages and was making totally unrealistic demands in negotiations. Netanyahu and his government were like, “We’re done playing nice,” and now the military is back in full attack mode. And, let’s be real, Netanyahu has been under a ton of pressure from his far-right coalition partners, who were super mad about the ceasefire and basically forced him to go harder on Gaza.
The Israeli military is going all in with airstrikes, saying they’re only hitting Hamas targets, but the reality? So many civilians are getting caught in the middle, and hospitals are totally overwhelmed. It’s seriously tragic, especially with so many kids among the victims.
And obviously, the world is, like, freaking out. The EU’s Kaja Kallas was straight-up like, “This is unacceptable,” and now there’s going to be some emergency meeting in Egypt to try and deal with this mess. Humanitarian groups like UNICEF are also speaking out, saying the number of kids being killed is beyond horrifying. But, like, nothing is stopping the bombing right now.
Meanwhile, inside Israel, things are also totally dramatic. Netanyahu just brought back the far-right ministers who quit over the ceasefire, like Itamar Ben Gvir, who’s super hardcore about attacking Gaza. And people are mad. Families of hostages being held by Hamas are protesting in Jerusalem, terrified that their loved ones are in even more danger now that the fighting is back on.
And if all of that wasn’t bad enough, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is just getting worse by the second. The whole region is basically under siege—no aid, no electricity, nothing. It’s just, like, a total disaster zone, and people are desperate.
Everyone is calling for a return to negotiations, but with both sides digging in and the violence escalating, it’s hard to see how this ends anytime soon.
XOXO,
